Coming out

“I think I will start bein’ open about bein’…y’know?” Mr. Slick gestured toward himself as he and Dr. Alma sat at the coffee table.

“I am proud of you, sweetie,” Dr. Alma smiled before she hugged him tightly, “That takes a lot of courage, Bertie,”

“Thank ya, darlin’,” he blushed, “I had been thinkin’ a lot of how bein’ hush about it does stress me out, especially bein’ scared how my pals and other folks would react about it,”

“Hm, so you want to come out to them?”

“That’s the plan. I want to come out to my pals. As for other folks, I would be honest and admit I am…y’know…if they ask,” he rubbed the back of his head.

“Would you want me to accompany you when you come out?”

“Nah, I should be fine. I will phone ya or Dad if I need help,”
