Fears

Mr. Slick, Dr. Alma, Bianca, and Estella were sitting on the grass as they were having their break. They were all hot and bothered from the harsh training Delle had subjected them.

“We are going to have the match against Time Warp on Wednesday,” Estella whined before she took a sip of her water, “Yet, it doesn’t feel like our training would be enough…”

“We will just have to see what happens,” Mr. Slick pointed out, “We are doin’ our best. We all spend nearly eighteen hours a day since last week Wednesday trainin’. I think we have more control of our powers….”

“I am still worried,” Dr. Alma admitted, “Delle said that since I bottle my emotions up too much, it limited my powers.”

“Ah, I am sure ya will sort somethin’ out, Al.”

“I still think we are goin’ to die,” Bianca piped up.

“Not you too,” Mr. Slick huffed in frustration, “Ya won’t be dyin’, ladies!”

“Hey, we had a hard time fightin’ Time Warp already, and he was just testin’ us back then!” Bianca snapped, “He will give us such a hard time Wednesday. Sorry that I am facin’ facts!”

“She has a good point there,” Estella muttered under her breath.

“…I agree with Bianca and Estella…” Dr. Alma mumbled as she fiddled with her sleeve.

“Look, ladies, I understand that ya are all nervous, but we mustn’t think that the worst will happen!” Mr. Slick stated in a firm tone, “We have to have more confidence in ourselves. The universe is on the line. We can’t afford to be negative about our chances.”

“…”

“A little meowchirp told me that you set up your will and testament,” Estella whispered before she dared to glance at Mr. Slick. Bianca looked up in surprise.

“…” the salesman looked as if he wanted to simply disappear, “Ah, that is correct. While I am confident that we will win, I wanted to be on the safe side.”

“Stell, it isn’t like that. You see–” Dr. Alma began before Bianca piped up.

“Why can’t ya just admit that ya are just as scared as us. That ya are just as scared as us about dyin’?”

Mr. Slick looked quite uncomfortable as all eyes were set on him.

“Yer little meowchirp isn’t accurate,” the salesman snapped, “I had set up my will ever since I became a young man. I had set up an appointment to update it a couple months ago. The timin’ was just unfortunate.”

“Oh. Sorry about that,” Estella and Bianca looked away in shame.

“We understand. This whole situation made everyone nervous,” Dr. Alma wore a reassuring smile.

Moments later, the goddess floated towards them.

“We have a visitor. I am certain you will appreciate his visit,” Delle stated, ”Please follow me.”
